P3 - Legal & Ethical Issues

One aspect of legal issues is a release form as this is important to gather permission from people who have contributed to the video. Especially people under the age of 18 as this is up to parents whether or not their son/daughter has permission. Parental Guidance.

As this was an academic project I did not really need to consider the budget, however if I were going to construct this as a proper organisation the budget I would consider would be:

  • Overheads - Location is key and getting the right one will cost money. For mine it was all done in my house however I would have to pay them for their electrics, equipment and software.

  • Equipment - Camera's where mine but I had to pay for them to begin with, lights for the camera to show up the model, computers and their software.

  • Time - My time is valued and the time I took take photos outside of school and the time it takes me to travel from one location to the next. Also other people’s time and energy, they all have to be paid.

  • Transport - I walk everywhere but if had to consider transport there would be fuel costs and renting costs as well, maybe even a driver.

  • Model/people - People need to be paid especially the models who star in my video as he/she needs to make a living

Budget to consider

Violance And Offensive Language/Behavior

I have to take into consideration the violent language that could of been included in my video. This is not an issue for my promo video however if I was aware of any violence I would have to insert a Pegi age limit for parental guidance to convey to my audience what the video may entail.

Slander And Liability

This is to make me aware that I am giving away information for a separate organisation and I have to make sure my sources and what is being said is legit as making false claims can lead to major consequences. As i am part of the organisation in question I know that the sources are real as I have experienced this first hand.

Copy Right

According to

http://www.guidetomusicaltheatre.com/copyright/music_theatres.htm

"Music seems to be freely available but it is not free. Music is created and owned by somebody and that somebody - be it a composer, songwriter, lyricist or music publisher - has a right to receive payment for its use.

PRS is the non-profit making UK association of composers, songwriters and music publishers which exists to administer the performing right on behalf of its members and those of affiliated societies world-wide.

The term 'performing right' means the right to:

  • perform a work in public

  • broadcast a work or to include it in a cable programme service

  • authorise others to do so"

I will be using music created online but can be used for free which means I will be able to use the whole peice.

Relevant Certification

This will relate to my promo video as my target audience has no control on when this promo will appear and I want the promo to target each indervidual so making the IDent a BBFC Certification U makes this ideal as it is suitable for all. On the left are the guidlines I would have to consider when creating the promo video.
