P5 - Post Production Development

I started by selecting the video I wanted to use and create my whole video with. I then added the audio to the video to get the sense of what the video will be like with the audio. As I wanted this to be as natural as possible I started by cutting the video where there is a pause and cropping the video when it is I asking the questions behind the camera.

I then used the cutaways I had filmed and put them into place. I used the cutaways to cover over the video in parts that jumped in the video or things that needed to be covered up, but also these cutaways can also be used for context such as wide shots. These create atomsphere as well as the cut away in the picture presents the sense of confustion as the mum maybe looking around trying to find her missing child.

I created Timelapses with my films by chanding the deration from 100% to 1000%. This speeds up the film, the film starts and ends with the same timelaps to present that no matter who we are we are all part of a bigger world than we think and every idervidual has a story. Ending with the same Timelapse creates structure that the film lacked to begin with.

I then made title cards to give information towards the audience. The words 'Reconstuction' outline that this is based on real stories but the film creats a bigger impact on the audience to get them to think about there own lives and how the police effect them. As this is an over exsageration the film doesn't stick to the story being told. The title cards are made by typing over the film and placing it where the audience will see it on screen.

I listened to my target audience's feedback and got rid of the unrealated cutaways and replaced it with waveforms. These are typically seen in radio films and and used for soemthing to be on screen when someone is talking. The waveforms are linked with cutaways I filmed at school (the receptionests) to present what it might be like to work in the call centers as legally i am not allowed to film the police station. The wave forms are created in after effects and it liks to the part of the audio that i exported before hand. I can choose the colour, blue, as it is connoted as a calming colour just like the audios voice. There is a black solid backround to present the waves more clearly.

I wanted the story of the little girl to be a bit more spooky than what it is orignally. The camera used wasnt as good quality as the rest so in order to cover this I changed the levels of the film to make it less clear but more effective.

Final edit includes crossfades between videos to make smooth transitions, final panel explaining the company and the title of the film, crops and cuts in the audio and in the film to make it shorter and more interesting.
