P3 - Audience Analysis

It is very important to think about my audience and each section they would fall into. This will help me understand why perticular audiences buy or watch products, and how people can be influanced in different ways.

Psychographic Segmentation

  • An Explorer - This is due to the fact that they all want to be different but challenge themselves to try new brands/products. The Hobbit is a great challenge for my audience to try and understand how this perticular film fits with the rest of the trilogy.

  • Mainstreamer - This is who my film is more advertised towards as they are part of the mass and have a substatial influance on what others will want. They favorite well-known brands and like good value for money as they are seen as the family inflance. The Hobbit is a family film and they proves this by including something for everyone in their film; romance, action and mystry.

The Outline Of My Audience

My audience would be someone simple. They are of a mixed gender and likes to do family activites with there immediate family. They will go to places like Bristol Zoo and even theme parks to spend time with the family but they will go when the prices are low. They will be educated to understand facts and films. 

Socio Economic Status

My audience will more than likely be grade C2 and C1 class, this is because my film is more of a family film which they may not have high end jobs but they can afford to go to the cinema. Also C1 class takes up 30.84% of the country which covers most family members, each persion old enough to see the film will be educated enough to understand the message behind it. 

Val's Framework

  • Experiencers - this is because they are family, they are enthusiastic and someone who are looking for new and risky ideas to capture their attention.

  • Strivers - this is due to promotional reasons because they ask for people's opinions before making an approval, so if they ask people about The Hobbit it will get the film to other people.

  • Belivers - this is due to them being family oriantated as the film has something for everyone. Each character in the film has someone to relate to in the family and each member will have their favourite which brings the family together.

Geo-Demographic Issues

I belive most of my audience will be living in the country where it is safe and secure for the children and even the parents theselves. This maybe harder to advertise as there will not be really big billboards but there are bus shelters,posters and cinema screens to advertise and create a good impression on the film.

 

They have to take into account where my audience live and how they live because of how much advertising they need to do in one area and what they need to include. For example, if they put loads of writing on the poster they will need to advertise it somewhere where people will stop and look at it.
